John C. Gross, Treasurer
Pennsylvania State Dog Law (Chapter 21 of Title 7) requires all dogs three (3) months and older to be properly licensed every calendar year, in the County they reside.
Dog License Fees are $8.50 for a Productive Dog, and $6.50 if Neutered or Spayed. Individuals who are 65 and older, or have certain disabilities, are offered a discounted rate. The cost is $6.50 if Productive and $4.50 if Neutered or Spayed.
Instead of purchasing the yearly license, a dog owner can apply for a Lifetime Dog License. There are two options available to obtain the Lifetime Dog License. The dog owner chooses either a tattoo number to be placed on the inner part of the dog's right hind leg, or the implantation of a microchip as the means of permanent identification. The cost to purchase a Lifetime License is $51.50 if Productive, and $31.50 if Neutered or Spayed. A Lifetime Dog License requires additional information and paperwork and can not be purchased online. If one is interested in obtaining the Lifetime Dog License, please download our Lifetime Dog License application below which can be delivered or mailed to our office along with the completed Permanent Identification Verification Form.
Application forms are also available at most veterinary clinics, public libraries, some kennels through out the county and on-line (see the Link above). Please complete the form and mail with the correct fee and a self addressed stamped envelope to the County Treasurer's Office.
