Core Activities
- Implement the County Municipal Waste Management Plan by administering waste disposal facility services contracts and ensuring waste collector/hauler compliance with County regulations.
- Provide waste management consulting services to County municipalities. Consulting services include the following: grant application assistance, ordinance development, recycling program development, yard waste management assistance, and general waste management assistance.
- Develop and maintain a waste management education program for County residents, municipalities, school districts and businesses aimed at reducing waste generation, reusing materials, improving overall recycling participation, and increasing recycled material product use.
- Review and comment on any permit application related to waste management planning, recycling, land application of sewage sludge/septic or waste facility development when submitted to the County for official review and as requested by municipalities, residents, organizations or other County agencies. Investigate any new waste technologies and recycling initiatives that have a potential to be implemented in the County.
