Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), CumberlandCounty was awarded a $2.2 million block grant from the United States Department of Energy to implement a variety of energy efficiency and conservation projects. CumberlandCounty plans on using this funding to implement internal projects and to provide subgrants to municipalities and non-governmental organizations with eligible projects. CumberlandCounty anticipates that approximately 40%-50% of the $2.2 million will be available for subgrants. The actual funding available for subgrants will be determined based upon the costs for priority internal county projects. Enclosed please find an overview of the program and a notice of intent form that should be used to suggest potential local projects for this program. Please review this information and determine if your organization may have projects eligible for this program.
ARRA funding programs focus on ready to go projects. As such we need to expeditiously move this program forward and have all potential project applications submitted by no later than October 9, 2009. Any project submitted must be completed by September 30, 2011.
More detailed information on the program and the types of eligible projects can be found at the Department of Energy’s program website at http://www.eecbg.energy.gov/.
