Capitol Area Transit, CAT, provides a general fixed route schedule to Carlisle and Shippensburg residents. Eligible senior citizen residents for Cumberland County transportation services who live within a quarter mile of a CAT bus route and their destination is within a quarter mile of a CAT bus route are required to use the CAT bus service, Share-A-Ride. This is a free service for senior citizens, 65 years of age and older, who are county residents during off peak hours between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM. Exceptions to this quarter mile rule would be residents who have a doctor's certificate stating they cannot utilize the CAT bus or extenuating circumstances.
