Responsibilities of the Public Safety Department include:
- Operating the 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center
- Planning for all hazardous disasters
- Coordinating and providing the capability to respond to all hazardous materials incidents
- Assisting all emergency first responders and special teams in conducting essential training

Mission Statement
To coordinate essential public safety activity among federal, state, regional, county, municipal agencies and volunteer organizations to provide quick, reasoned responses to the needs of our citizens during daily public safety operations and emergencies and man-made and natural disasters, including those resulting from acts of terrorism.
