Cumberland County Crime Stoppers is a volunteer group dedicated to the reduction of crime, to the prompt solution of crimes, and to rewarding persons who provide information that leads to the arrest of criminals.  It is based on the principle that someone other than the criminal has information that can solve a crime, and it was created to combat the three major problems faced by law enforcement in generating that information: fear of reprisal, an attitude of apathy and a reluctance to get involved.

Citizens with information call the tip line 1-866-898-TIPS and provide the information anonymously. The caller is assigned a special code number with no names given and provided with instructions to call the tip line again at a later date to find out if the information qualifies for a reward.
The information is provided to the appropriate Police authorities and the Cumberland County Detectives, for investigation.  If a reward is given, the recipient uses the special code to claim the money from a designated bank. All rewards are in cash and the person who provides the information remains anonymous.
