Registering in Person

You may register to vote at the Cumberland County Elections Office during regular business hours between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm at:

Registering by Mail

Forms to register by mail are available at all Cumberland County post offices, libraries, state liquor stores, municipal buildings, and party headquarters. These forms require postage for adequate delivery to the County office.

Registering to Vote through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)

You may apply for voter registration when you apply for or renew a drivers license, which can serve as an application for voter registration or an update to a previous voter registration. Ask about it at your local DMV.

Registering to Vote at Various Government Agencies

You can apply for voter registration at the Department of Public Welfare, Health, Labor, and Industry, the County Clerk of Orphans Court, and all armed forces recruitment centers. All forms submitted at these agencies are forwarded to proper voter registration commissions.

Deadline to Register

The deadline for voter registration is 30 days prior to each election, with the following exceptions:
  • Mailed applications postmarked no later than the deadline to register.
  • If the application is submitted to the Department of Transportation or agencies designated for registration before the deadline, the proper voter registration commission must process the application.

Canceling Your Voter Registration

You can cancel your Pennsylvania Voter Registration at any time by completing the Request to Cancel Voter Registration form. The signed and completed form should be returned to: Cumberland County Bureau of Elections, 1601 Ritner Highway, Suite 201, Carlisle, PA 17013.
