Cumberland County provides access to choices for medical coverage to all full-time employees and their dependents as well as dental and vision benefit plans beginning the first day of the second full calendar month following the first day of employment.  Part-time employees working more than 1,000 hours/year are eligible to purchase into the health benefit plan only.

All full-time employees and part-time employees who work more than 1,000 hours per year.  Employees contribute 5% pre-tax.  Up to 15% can be contributed but any percentage contributed after the mandatory 5% will be after-tax.

Vacation is accrued beginning from date of hire.  Part-time employees who work less than 1,000 hours/year are not eligible to accrue vacation time.  Accrual rates are based on percentages that differ between classifications of positions.  (The Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center bargaining unit operates under a PTO policy.)

Cumberland County observes 12 paid holidays for full-time employees.  In 24 hour/7 day operations within the County, services must be provided during weekends and holidays, so department policy determines the day on which a holiday is celebrated.    Claremont bargaining unit observes a combination of major holidays and floating holidays.

Cumberland County provides a short-term income protection plan at no cost to full-time employees.  All full-time employees are eligible for this plan after one-year of employment.  You must satisfy a 14  calendar day elimination period (with accrued leave) for an illness before short-term disability benefits begin.  STD benefits may continue for a maximum of 26 weeks at a weekly income benefit of 60% of your pre-disability weekly earnings up to a maximum of $1,250. This program is available to all employees beginning on the date of hire.  

Cumberland County prefers that you consent to have your paycheck directly deposited into your account(s), alleviating the need to wait a designated amount of time before you can access your funds. 

Cumberland County provides $25,000 of term life insurance coverage for all full-time employees subject to the terms and conditions of the carrier.  Life insurance coverage begins on the first day of the second full calendar month of employment.

The program is offered to full-time employees who have been employed by the County in a full-time status for at least six (6) months.
