COUNTY OF CUMBERLAND, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA
HOTEL ROOM TAX ORDINANCE 2014-2
ADOPTED MARCH 12, 2001 AND AMENDED APRIL 29, 2014
Purpose: Commissioners of Cumberland County established a Hotel Room Rental Tax
for the purpose of funding tourist promotion in the County.
IN A NUTSHELL WHO MUST COMPLY
It is obvious in most cases who must Register, Collect (rate of 3%), and Pay this tax.
Establishments that are Hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, Homesteads, Guest Houses, Inn, and others. Others include those who are advertising on social media online hosting sites; most notably: Air B&B, VRBO, Home Away, and other online platforms to rent out rooms for lodging accommodations. Many of the definitions in the County Ordinance; "Hotel, Occupancy, Operator, Consideration, Patron, Transaction, Transient," apply to the collection and remittance of this tax.

VISTORS TO OUR COUNTY
If you are a person who pays considerations for the occupancy of a room or rooms within the County, you will be charged a 3% County Hotel Tax on the room rental rate.
