Founded in 1750, Cumberland County is one of the oldest counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and maintains over 260 years of official records. The Cumberland County Archives is dedicated to managing and preserving records created by the County’s various governmental Offices and Departments, and primarily houses non-active, permanent, pre-1930 records. However, a substantial number of other records, including some historic documents as well as newer records, are maintained by the various Offices and Departments themselves.
