We are looking for individuals 18 or older who can offer us at least 4 hours per month, with a one year commitment. Take advantage of this exciting opportunity and learn how to unravel the mysteries of Medicare and then share that knowledge to help your family, friends, neighbors and older Pennsylvanians. As an Ombudsman, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others living in long term care facilities. Ombudsman volunteers receive free training from the PA Dept of Aging on conflict of interest, communication skills, confidentiality, ethics, and visitation skills. Ombudsmen are assigned to a facility to discuss problems and concerns or to lend an ear when residents have something on their minds. They monitor the quality of care, help protect residents’ rights, provide information to residents and their families to ensure proper treatment, and encourage residents to express their opinions. We are looking for individuals 18 or older who can offer us at least 4 hours per month, with a one year committment. You will experience great satisfaction as you handle advocacy issues and increase community concern and interest for the residents of Long Term Care settings. Become an Ombudsman Volunteer!
