Memorial Day 2017

Cumberland County Veterans Organizations have developed a list of Memorial Day Events scheduled throughout the County. Please take some time to attend one or more of the events listed below.

May 27 11:00am Memorial Day Service Hampden Township . Veterans Recognition Committee and Hampden Township Volunteer Fire Company No. I  will hold their annual Hampden Township Memorial Day Service beginning at 11:00am at the future Hampden Township Veterans Park, 4345 Marketplace Way, Enola.
​Inclement Weather:
service will be held in the community room at the Good Hope Fire Station.

May 28 1:00pm

Memorial Day Parade & Picnic

Boiling Springs . Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8851 will hold their annual Memorial Day Parade and picnic. The Parade will start promptly at 1:00pm and end at the Memorial Clock Tower at Children's Lake where ceremonies will be held. The Cumberland County Honor Guard will provide a firing detail. A picnic will be held immediately following the parade in the Boiling Springs Tavern parking lot.
Guest Speaker: Jorie Hanson, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army, Retired.
Inclement Weather: Ceremony will be held in the Boiling Spring High School auditorium.

May 28 1:00pm Memorial Day Ceremony South Mountain American Legion Post 674 will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Post banquet room beginning at 1:00pm.
Guest Speaker: Lieutenant Colonel Drew Jones, U.S. Army War College.

Memorial Day Parade & Service

Camp Hill . American Legion Post 43 will hold a Memorial Day Parade beginning at 9:30am. The parade will start at 19th and Market Streets and continue to the Fire Hall. A service will follow at 11:00am at the Camp Hill Cemetery behind the Fire Hall at 2145 Walnut Street, Camp Hill.
Guest Speaker: Lieutenant Colonel Keith W. Littlewood, PaANG. 
Inclement Weather: service will be held at the Camp Hill Borough Building at 2145 Walnut Street, Camp Hill.

May 29 8:30am Memorial Day Parade Carlisle . Joint Veterans Council of Carlisle will hold the Annual Memorial Day Parade forming at 8:30am and starting promptly at 9:00am, with services following the parade at Veterans' Memorial Courtyard at 9:45am.
Guest Speaker: Adam Roth, Colonel U. S. Army, Retired, Deputy Assistant to Commanding General, 99th Regional Support Command Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
Inclement Weather: Parade will be cancelled and the ceremonies will be held in the Old Courthouse.

May 29 Noon Memorial Day Luncheon Carlisle . Veterans of Foreign Wars . Post 477 will serve a free luncheon for U. S. veterans of the Carlisle community from Noon to 2:00pm. There will be a guest speaker.   Commander Rick Olson

Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony

Mechanicsburg .  Mechanicsburg Area Veterans Council will hold a Memorial Day Parade starting at 10:00am, followed by a ceremony at the Mechanicsburg Cemetery GAR monument on Marble Street at 11:00am. The parade Marshall will be Officer Shutt and K-9 Marc from the Mechanicsburg Police Department.
Guest Speaker: Mechanicsburg Police Department Patrol Officer Justin Myers, U.S. Army Reserves. 
Inclement Weather: Parade will be cancelled and the ceremony will be held at 11:00am inside the VFW Post 6704 in Mechanicsburg.

Memorial Service

Mechanicsburg . The Vietnam Veterans of Mechanicsburg will hold a Memorial Service at 2:00pm at the Lincoln Colored Cemetery off Winding Hill Road in Mechanicsburg.
Inclement Weather: Service will be conducted rain or shine.

Memorial Day Parade & Service

Newville . Joint Veterans Council of Newville will hold a Memorial Day Parade starting at 1:00pm. Memorial Day Services will immediately follow the parade at the Fountain at the Veterans Memorial.
Guest Speaker: Colonel Gary Sokoloski, U. S. Marine Corps, Retired.
Inclement Weather: Parade will be cancelled and the Memorial Day Services will be held at the VFW West Main Street in Newville.

Memorial Day Ceremonies & Parade

Shippensburg . Joint Veterans Council of Shippensburg  will hold their annual Memorial Day Ceremonies and Parade beginning at 10:00am at Locust Grove Cemetery, followed by services at Spring Hill Cemetery at 11:00am and flag raising ceremony at Shippensburg Veterans Memorial Park at 12:00pm. At 1:15pm the Navy & Marine Memorial Services will be conducted at Branch Bridge on King Street. The Parade will begin at 2:00pm from the corner of King and Prince Streets.
Inclement Weather: Each unit returns to the post involved for refreshments and a time of fellowship.

Memorial Day Ceremony Silver Spring Township . Veterans Memorial Committee will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at 11:00am at Willow Mill Park, 80 Willow Mill Park Road, Mechanicsburg.
Guest speaker: Michael Hanrahan, DOD Civilian, Army veteran, Defense Senior Leader Development Program, U. S. Army War College.
Inclement weather: Event will be held nearby under cover.
