Cumberland County Veterans Organizations have developed a list of Memorial Day Events scheduled throughout the County. Please take some time to attend one or more of the events listed below.

Memorial Day Parade & Picnic

Boiling Springs . Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8851. Parade to begin at 1:00 PM followed by a picnic in the Boiling Springs Tavern Parking Lot. Guest speaker will be Jack Kutz, Sgt. Major U.S. Air Force, Retired.

Memorial Day Parade & Service

Camp Hill . American Legion Post 43.  Memorial Day Parade at 9:30 AM starting at 19th and Market Streets and continue to Fire Hall.  Service will follow at 11:00 AM at Camp Hill Cemetery at 2145 Walnut Street.

Memorial Day Service Carlisle .  American Legion Post 826. Memorial Service to be held at 11:30 AM at Memorial Park at Pitt and Penn Streets.  Honor Guard to provide firing detail.

Memorial Day Parade

Carlisle . Joint Veterans Council of Carlisle . Annual Memorial Day Parade forming at 8:30 AM. and starting promptly at 9:00 AM. with services following the parade at Veterans' Memorial Courtyard at 9:45 AM In the event of inclement weather, the parade will be cancelled and the ceremonies will be held in the Old Courthouse. Guest Speaker: Major General William Rapp, Commandant, U.S. Army War College

Memorial Service

Carlisle . Union Cemetery . American Legion Post 826 . The Cumberland County Honor Guard will provide a firing detail. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the post home. Guest speaker: Bidemi Olaniyi-Leyimu, a student at the U.S. Army War College.

Memorial Day Ceremony

Mechanicsburg . Mechanicsburg Area Veterans Council . The parade will be followed by a ceremony at the Mechanicsburg Cemetery GAR monument on Marble Street at 10:00 AM PRIDE WALK- inviting all veterans to walk or ride in the beginning of parade in observance of 150th anniversary of Memorial Day.  Guest Speaker: Rear Admiral Jonathan Yuen, Mechanicsburg Navy Depot

Memorial Day Parade & Service

Newville . Joint Veterans Council of Newville . A Memorial Day Services will immediately follow the parade at the Fountain at the Veterans Memorial. In the event of inclement weather, the parade will be cancelled and the Memorial Day Services will be held at the VFW West Main Street in Newville. Guest Speaker: Sam Stouffer, Colonel, U.S. Army, Retired, and Big Spring High School Class of 1964.

May 30  Memorial Day Ceremonies & Parade

Shippensburg . Joint Veterans Council of Shippensburg .  Events will begin at 10:00 AM at Locust Grove Cemetery, followed by services at Spring Hill Cemetery at 11:00 AM and flag raising ceremony at Shippensburg Veterans Memorial Park at 12:00 PM At 1:15 PM the Navy & Marine Memorial Services will be conducted at Branch Bridge on King Street. The Memorial Day Parade will begin at 2:00 PM from the comer of King and Prince Streets. In the event of inclement weather, each unit returns to the post involved for refreshments and a time of fellowship.
