According to the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention,
the role of prevention is to create healthy communities in which people
enjoy a quality life. This includes supportive work and school
environments, drug- and crime-free neighborhoods, and positive
connections with friends and family.
No one person, agency or community can
accomplish this task alone, so our substance abuse prevention services
are developed with input from our local communities. We partner with
schools, community organizations, and other prevention providers to
offer what we hope is a fairly comprehensive plan to promote health in
Currently, we are focusing on reducing three risk factors in Cumberland and Perry Counties:
Availability of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in the community
Favorable attitudes toward alcohol, tobacco and other drug use
Family management problems
