Substance Abuse Prevention Services

According to the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, the role of prevention is to create healthy communities in which people enjoy a quality life. This includes supportive work and school environments, drug- and crime-free neighborhoods, and positive connections with friends and family.

No one person, agency or community can accomplish this task alone, so our substance abuse prevention services are developed with input from our local communities.  We partner with schools, community organizations, and other prevention providers to offer what we hope is a fairly comprehensive plan to promote health in our area.

Currently, we are focusing on reducing three risk factors in Cumberland and Perry Counties:
  • Availability of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in the community
  • Favorable attitudes toward alcohol, tobacco and other drug use
  • Family management problems
